 Amal Ishaque (they, them) is the Principal of Cambium Arts & Education. They are a widely respected Equity and Anti-Oppression Consultant, Racial Justice Organizer and Educator. Their work is informed by Muslim, feminist, LGBTQI2S+ and other communities they are a part of.

Amal has over 25 years of leadership experience in the field of anti-oppression and equity. Before founding Cambium Arts & Education, they worked for over a decade as a Senior Labour Educator for public sector unions training members, staff and leaders in advanced curriculum design, facilitation skills and intersectional models of transformative change and equitable labour relations practices.

Amal’s public talks have taken them to stages around the world including the World Social Forum in Brazil, the Left Forum in New York, the BC Libraries Association annual conference and numerous other large convergences, conferences and global assemblies. They regularly provide keynote talks on moving beyond diversity to organizational transformation, understanding systemic inequities as  public and workplace health issues, visioning decolonial futures for our communities and many other topics.

Amal is also an arts educator, interdisciplinary storyteller and Pushcart Prize nominated writer. Their work has been performed and published widely. They are often invited to share their knowledge as a deeply experienced, community embedded artist with expertise in anti-oppression modalities.
